Home CCTV installation
Protect and monitor your home with a professionally installed wired CCTV system. The Village Technician provides discreet, reliable camera systems with secure local recording, intelligent alerts and remote access from your phone or tablet.
Reliable by design
Many consumer security cameras rely on batteries, Wi-Fi connections and ongoing cloud subscriptions. The Village Technician installs professionally wired CCTV systems designed to provide more reliable coverage, secure local recording and simple remote access.
The systems are based on UniFi Protect technology, providing an easy-to-use mobile app, intelligent alerts and high-quality recorded footage without requiring a compulsory monthly storage plan.
A balanced approach: CCTV can provide visibility, recorded evidence and a visible deterrent, but no security system can guarantee that a crime will not occur.
Why wired CCTV?
Each camera uses network cabling, avoiding the battery and Wi-Fi reliability problems associated with many DIY cameras.
Footage is stored on a recorder within the property rather than relying entirely on cloud storage.
Receive alerts when the system identifies people or vehicles in selected areas.
View live and recorded footage securely from a smartphone, tablet or computer.
There is no mandatory monthly cloud-storage charge for the core CCTV service.
Your system is installed, configured and demonstrated by a local technician rather than supplied as a DIY box.

The packages include the main equipment, installation, configuration and customer handover for a standard residential installation. Final suitability is confirmed during a free survey.
Storage and retention: Every package includes a local recorder and storage. Your written quotation will state the exact storage capacity included and the estimated retention period before you order. Actual retention depends on camera quantity, recording quality, activity levels and recording settings. Larger storage options are available at additional cost.

Prices apply to a standard installation and are subject to a short site survey. Unusually difficult cable routes, specialist access equipment, trenching, extensive making-good or other non-standard work will be quoted separately before work begins.
A complete handover
A standard installation does not include scaffolding, cherry pickers, roof work, trenching, buried cabling, electrical alterations, extensive decoration or building repairs.
From survey to support
The property and likely camera positions are reviewed before any order is placed.
You receive confirmation of the package, camera positions, included storage capacity, estimated retention, price and any non-standard work.
The equipment is installed, configured and tested.
You are shown how to view footage, receive alerts and use the mobile app.
Responsible installation
Camera positions should focus primarily on your own property. Where a camera may also capture a pavement, road, shared area or neighbouring property, the system can be adjusted using careful positioning and privacy zones.
Audio recording is disabled by default unless there is a clear and appropriate reason to use it.
The homeowner remains responsible for operating the CCTV system lawfully after handover. The Village Technician provides practical guidance on camera positioning, retention and privacy settings.

The standard systems use wired Power over Ethernet connections. This provides both power and data through a single network cable and is generally more reliable than battery or Wi-Fi-only cameras.
Yes. Once configured, authorised users can securely view live and recorded footage using the mobile app.
